Mexican Fiesta Feast!!

Hello all,

I know that it has been a while since I have posted with miniature pics, and I am glad to say that I have a wonderfully delicious feast to show you. I hope that you have all eaten already. I would not want to be responsible for folks having to run to get food after seeing my Mexican Fiesta Feast.

I will start of with the Chili. Does it make you want to run for the nearest Mexican restaurant. My chili was done a little differently than the teachers but I love the way that it came out. She allowed us to do what we liked for our final product. My chili has visible tomatoes, peppers and onions. Well since onions are so translucent you might only see the tomatoes and peppers.LOL

Next up is the Salsa and Chips.I did not make chunky salsa. I made the regular version. I will make another bowl of chunky salsa to add to the fiesta.

Here are the Tacos and no they are not from Taco Bells.. They are made in Cocina de Perla, translation "Pearl's Kitchen". LOL

I have saved the best for last for all you lovers of the full fiesta feel with the beverages. We have as she calls herself "the life of the party". I present to you Senora Sangria.. She just loves her added lemon that is visible at the top of the Sangria.

I would like to give a special Thank You, to a great teacher and fellow miniaturist. Carolyn Eiche of Carolyn's Creations here in NYC for a wonderful class and being a wonderful teacher. I took a special workshop that my miniature group gave last Saturday, and I had a wonderful time as I know all who participated did. Thank you again Carolyn for being a great teacher..

Until next time,

To All My New and Old Miniature Girls...

I am sending this out to all my miniature friends. I think that it can even ring true with virtual friends. You never know when someone you meet online will become one of your closest friends later in life. I hope that as miniaturist we all have wonderful "girls in my circle". Please leave a comment as I would love to hear from each and every one of you. Blessings to all.

GIRLS IN MY CIRCLE
When I was little,
I used to believe in the concept of one best friend,
And then I started to become a woman.
And then I found out that if you allow your heart to open up,
God would show you the best in many friends.
One friend is needed when you're going through things with your man.
Another friend is needed when you're going through things with your mom.
Another will sit beside you in the bleachers as you delight in your children and their activities.
Another when you want to shop, share, heal, hurt, joke, or just be.
One friend will say, 'Let's cry together,'
Another , 'Let's fight together,'
Another , 'Let's walk away together.'
One friend will meet your spiritual need,
Another your shoe fetish,
Another your love for movies,
Another will be with you in your season of confusion,
Another will be your clarifier,
Another the wind beneath your wings.
But whatever their assignment in your life,
On whatever the occasion,
On whatever the day,
Or wherever you need them to meet you with their gym shoes on and hair pulled back,
Or to hold you back from making a complete fool of yourself .
Those are your best friends.
It may all be wrapped up in one woman, But for many, it's wrapped up in several..
One from 7th grade,
One from high school,
Several from the college years,
A couple from old jobs,
On some days your mother,
On some days your neighbor,
On others, your sisters,
And on some days, your daughters..

So whether they've been a friend for 20 minutes or 20+ years,
AND ONLY IF YOU'D LIKE TO,
Pass this on to the women that God has placed in your life
To make a difference. Including the one who sent it to you.

An Irish Blessing!

Hello-

I know that it has been a while and someone sent me an email today and reading the story in the email and the saying at the end made me realize more than ever that it is true. I have always believed that and I hope that everyone who reads it takes something positive away from it as I have.. Enjoy!!!

His name was Fleming, and he was a poor Scottish farmer. One
day, while trying to make a living for his family, he heard
a cry for help coming from a nearby bog. He dropped his
tools and ran to the bog.

There, mired to his waist in black muck, was a terrified boy
, screaming and struggling to free himself. Farmer Fleming
saved the lad from what could have been a slow and
terrifying death.

The next day, a fancy carriage pulled up to the Scotsman's
sparse surroundings. An elegantly dressed nobleman stepped
out and introduced himself as the father of the boy Farmer
Fleming had saved.

'I want to repay you,' said the nobleman. 'You saved my
son's life.'

'No, I can't accept payment for what I did,' the Scottish
farmer replied waving off the offer. At that moment, the
farmer's own son came to the door of the family hovel.

'Is that your son?' the nobleman asked.

'Yes,' the farmer replied proudly.

'I'll make you a deal. Let me provide him with the level of
education my own son will enjoy If the lad is anything like
his father, he'll no doubt grow to be a man we both will be
proud of.' And that he did.

Farmer Fleming's son attended the very best schools and in
time, graduated from St. Mary's Hospital Medical School in
London, and went on to become known throughout the world as
the noted Sir Alexander Fleming, the discoverer of
Penicillin.

Years afterward, the same nobleman's son who was saved from
the bog was stricken with pneumonia.

What saved his life this time? Penicillin.

The name of the nobleman? Lord Randolph Churchill .. His
son's name?

Sir Winston Churchill.

Someone once said: What goes around comes around.

Work like you don't need the money.

Love like you've never been hurt.

Dance like nobody's watching.

Sing like nobody's listening.

Live like it's Heaven on Earth.

Great Finds at Hallmark Store!!!

It is that time again when the after Christmas bargains are a miniaturist dream for the pickings. LOL.. Well I recently went to my local store and found a couple of nice bargains. the first is a vintage television set that shows "The Andy Griffith Show" and who doesn't remember Gomer as his Golly famous saying and Barney. Well I was a little girl and really didn't watch the show much but do remember the theme song and the famous whistling.. Well this television actually plays the theme song.. Nice!!!

The second find was the 27th in the series of collectible houses. This one is a beauty ( but aren't they all). It is called A Colonial Christmas. I have posted both a front and back view. The first floor is a living room with the Christmas tree and the second floor is the bedroom. You can surely add things to the scenes using BPF that are sold at local dollhouse shops or online.

The both were currently 50% off (could be more off at your local Hallmark store). I was lucky enough to find the last one of these houses at my store on the shelf. It was as if it was waiting for me to come and get it. I was happy it was there seeing that I wanted it from the first time I laid eyes on it when they were just stocking the ornaments on the shelves for Christmas.

I hope that you find some goodies at your local Hallmark store's after Christmas sale. If you do please drop me a line with what goodies you were able to find and how much of a bargain you were able to find.

Until later.

Thrilling Tuesday!! I just had to share

I don't know any other reason that I decided to call it Thrilling Tuesday, but because I was thrilled today and it is Tuesday..LOL

Now for the reason that I was thrilled... I am really not a hat making person , but decided to make some hats for a swap that I joined. I hope that if anyone is in this swap that they are not looking at this right now.. Sorry!!!

I was very pleased with the way that they came out and I hope that everyone that is in the swap is as pleased as I am. It is called a Chapeau Hat and I thought that my version came out so nicely. As you can see my Chapeau Hat model is very happy with her new hat. You have seen her modeling my hats before and she really was looking forward to getting a new hat. I had promised her a new one a while ago and just got around to it.

I hope that you all enjoy it as much as I did making it. My model and I would love to hear your comments.. Thanks in advance and I hope that you had a Thrilling Tuesday in some way as well today...

Until next time..

Wishing you a Merry Christmas.....

Merry Christmas and Happy Kwanzaa to all who celebrate..

I just wanted to to share my Christmas at PopPops with you all. I made this scene and it all was focused around the tree. The tree was the first miniature that I chose for the room. I let the room tell me how it wanted the tree to be portrayed and I was pleased with how this three day project turned out. I actually had finished it on Christmas day. I didn't think that I was going to, but was glad and proud that I did.

The scene is PopPop has his granddaughter Samantha over on Christmas day and she is just in love with all the gifts that PopPop has given her in her wagon, but she doesn't realize the real true gift is under the table with a bow around her neck just waiting for her to realize that she is there. PopPop was wondering how he was going to keep the gift a surprise and decided to keep the pup entertained by feeding her so he was pleased that she was hungry and has stayed..LOL

The fireplace lights up, just as the two wall sconces on the wall does. PopPop wants to state that his tree was straight before he had an episode with the pup right before Samantha's arrival so he couldn't fix it. It was leave the tree in it's state or ruin the surprise of the pup for Samantha. He went for the obvious choice since it doesn't seem that she even noticed the tree. :) Sorry!!

I want to wish all a blessed Christmas from me and my family to you and yours. PopPop and Samantha wants to wish you a Merry Christmas as well and would love to see your comments on their place. Thanks...

Interesting Video: How cool to be miniaturized for our hobby!

Check out this link for a robot nurse. I immediately thought how cool if we could have a miniaturized doll version in our own dollhouse..Gives new meaning to things coming to life. I am sure that kids would really become interested in the hobby if they could literally control the doll in their dollhouse.. It is scary to think about on a human level, but I think it might be interesting in a miniaturized world.

NAME Day Event- Pawling, NY

Hello-

I went yesterday to NAME Day held by M-1 Region. The above hutch was the item made by all. The sizes available were 1", 1/2" and 1/4". Debbie Columbo and her crew of ladies did a great job. The day started at 8am with registration and continental breakfast. There was lunch with beverage, chips and sandwiches, wrap or salad. There was also lots of chocolate available for instant energy..Yummy!!!! There was also afternoon classes available for us. Great items available for sale also from vendors. I have shown a few photos of the display that one of the ladies had made to display at the event. You will see her 1" hutch in the scene. The wonderful thing about this scene is it is done inside of a wine box.

Here are some of the wonderful silent auction items.

I hope that you enjoy the pictures that I have posted and if there was anyone that was at a NAME Day in their state I would love to see pictures.

IGMA Show: Betsy Niederer

Hello all,

I went to the IGMA show on Sunday and I am still trying to catch my breath from all the wonderful things that I have seen.. I would like to take the time to introduce Betsy Niederer or should I even have to introduce her. LOL!! I went there and she was selling her wonderful goodies. I have included a few of the pictures that I took of some of her items. I hope that you enjoy them as much as I have..

Betsy's demo showing you how to make breads. I found this really nice and to see the children attentive to what Betsy was saying was a great feeling of how the future of miniatures can progress if we share with the children from now.

Wonderful cheese, sausage, breads and other goodies on this table..

This table has a meal in progress and please if you get hungry contact Betsy..LOL!!!

Thank you Betsy for allowing me to post your pictures and being so nice each time that I have met you. Your work is wonderful and continued success..

Bubble Gum Candles

Hi Guys,

I wanted you guys to see my latest creations. I have made some candles in a line of names that are my own makings. As you can see by the caption title these here are called "Bubble Gum". I choose that name because when I was making the clay mixture it reminded me of bubble gum. I am going to make different flavors of candles and hopefully have them available for sale.. If you would be interested in any of them please send me an email or leave me your email addy in a comment. Thanks and I hope that you also enjoy the candle holders that I have made too.
